Seasonal note: the coastal boat ride runs April–October, sea conditions permitting. Outside this window, or if the sea is too rough, villages are connected by train instead — the rest of the itinerary stays the same.

Out of the Box Florence offers a private, no-hiking way to experience the Cinque Terre — a UNESCO World Heritage coastline of five clifftop villages. Instead of walking the coastal trails, guests are driven in a luxury van directly to Manarola. For groups with members who walk with difficulty, we can drive all the way to Monterosso al Mare instead — the only nearly flat village among the five, making it the easiest to get around. From there, we select up to 4 villages for your day, always with drop-off inside the Cinque Terre National Park itself, connected by train, with a scenic boat ride along the coast included from April to October. The day includes lunch — a first course and wine, or fully customised — and is led by an expert guide. The tour runs privately for up to 8 guests and is suitable for children aged 5 and over.

Do we have to hike on this tour?

No. This tour is designed for travelers who prefer not to hike. You are driven directly to Manarola, or to Monterosso al Mare — the flattest and largest of the five villages — and villages are connected by train rather than on foot.

Is the boat ride available all year?

The boat ride is included April to October, sea conditions permitting. Outside this window or in poor sea conditions, the tour continues by train between villages instead.

How do you choose which villages we visit?

We select up to 4 villages we feel offer the best experience for your day, always with drop-off inside the Cinque Terre National Park itself — not at La Spezia station, which many other tours use. If you have particular villages in mind, just let us know and we'll build the day around your preferences.

How long is the tour and how many guests can join?

The tour lasts 10 hours including pick-up and drop-off in Florence. It is a private tour for up to 8 guests.

Is this tour suitable for people with limited mobility?

This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility. While it removes the need to hike between villages, it still involves walking on uneven, hilly terrain within the villages, train transfers, and is not wheelchair accessible.

We pick up directly from your hotel or B&B in Florence. If your accommodation is inside a pedestrian-only area, we will suggest a nearby alternative meeting point.
